WhatsApp launches procuring button worldwide
WhatsApp announced last month that it would increase investments in three areas for businesses on its platform – shopping, Facebook hosting services, and corporate sales – and took the first step towards purchasing with the introduction of a shopping button on Tuesday.
The “Shop” button simplifies the process for users of Facebook's own messaging application who want to search catalogs of companies selling goods and services, eliminating the need to click on the company profile.
The new button, which resembles a storefront icon, immediately indicates that the company has a catalog and gives users one-tap access.
According to WhatsApp, the shopping button is available worldwide and replaces the voice call button on the app surface. Users can still make voice calls from the call button so they can choose between video and voice.
According to the company, more than 175 million people send WhatsApp business accounts every day. Over 40 million catalogs are displayed every month.
WhatsApp also cited a recent survey that found that 68% of international respondents were more likely to do business with or buy from a company that can be contacted through messaging than a company that doesn't offer that option.
